Filing taxes can be daunting, but Lone Star College-University Park (LSC-University Park) is ready to help! The LSC-University Park Accounting Club is offering a free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community.

The VITA program connects taxpayers with IRS-certified volunteers who will provide personalized assistance with tax preparation and e-filing. To cater to the diverse surrounding community of LSC-University Park, tax preparation assistance is being offered in English, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish and Arabic.

"We're excited to offer this service to the community," said Helen Bassett, associate professor of accounting at LSC-University Park and the accounting club advisor. “Our certified volunteers are dedicated to helping people understand their tax obligations and maximize their returns. We believe everyone should have access to accurate and reliable tax assistance."

Tax assistance sessions are available every Wednesday and Saturday through April 13 by appointment in Building 12, Room 607, on the LSC-University Park campus located at 20515 TX-249, Houston, TX 77070. Due to the spring holiday, no sessions will be held March 30. To learn more about the program and schedule an appointment, please email LSC.UP.VITA@gmail.com.
