Display will be onsite at LSC-Houston North Fallbrook through February 2026

Houston, Texas—Beginning February 2, 2026 / 8:00am / LSC-Houston North Fallbrook location. Lone Star College-Houston North, in partnership with the Center for Civic Engagement, will present “Juneteenth,” an exhibition by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to inform enslaved Black Americans they had been freed under the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. This day came to be known as Juneteenth and is celebrated throughout the country as the day that marks freedom for all Black Americans. The 10-panel exhibition will explore the context and lasting effects of that announcement from 1865 to the present day, and the journey towards “absolute equality”.

The exhibition will be available to the public from February 2, 2026, to February 28, 2026. For more information about viewing hours or to arrange group visits, contact

Jessie Sparrow-Fontenot/Coordinator III at 281-836-9607.
