Carlecia Wright

Carlecia Wright, Chief Culture & Engagement Officer, Lone Star College

Carlecia Wright is an award-winning Inclusion Strategist with an extraordinary track record in developing strategies that level the playing field and reduces barriers for underrepresented, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and communities.

Currently, Carlecia serves as the Chief Culture and Engagement Officer for Lone Star College, the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area. Her responsibilities include leading the college’s internal culture impact and community engagement initiatives.  Previously, Carlecia served as Mayoral appointed Chief Diversity Officer and Director for the Office of Business Opportunity for the City of Houston where under her focused and strategic direction, the city awarded over $4 billion dollars to diverse businesses in her tenure.

Carlecia serves on the Board of Directors for Center for Houston Future, Sub-Contractor’s USA Magazine and on the Advisory Council for the Houston Coalition Against Hate.

As a result of her leadership and advocacy track record, Carlecia has received several awards for her achievements, in 2019 she was named a Women Who Means Business by Houston Business Journal and awarded the Community Advocate of the year by the Houston Black Chamber of Commerce. In 2017 she also received the Walker’s Legacy Women in Economic Development award. Additional recognitions include being recognized in 40 Under 40 by the Houston Business Journal, as well as featured as a Women to Watch by the Houston Chronicle, Most Influential Women by D-Mars Magazine and received the Breakthrough Women from the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College of Chicago and a master’s degree from New York University. She is an Executive and Communications Coach with various certifications in coaching, diversity, and leadership development. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is a graduate of the City of New York’s Leadership Institute, the Center for Houston’s Future, Leadership Houston, Leadership North Houston, and a Senior Fellow for the American Leadership Forum.
