If you’re dreading having to do your taxes, Lone Star College has got you covered. LSC-Kingwood is partnering with the AARP Tax-Aide Service to offer free tax help for the public.
“Because the U.S. tax code is so complicated, many taxpayers use paid tax services they cannot afford or overpay their taxes,” Workforce Success Director Pat Chandler says. “Tax-Aide volunteers provide professional tax guidance and are certified by the IRS. Lone Star College-Kingwood is proud to have partnered with the AARP to provide this service for the past 15 years.”
There are no age or income restrictions for the free services.
AARP volunteers will be available on a first come-first served basis, on Fridays through April 12th, excluding March 15th and 29th.
The hours of availability are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The volunteers will be set up in the Administration and Performing Arts Center (APA), room 119, on the LSC-Kingwood campus, which is located at 20000 Kingwood Drive.
Please bring along the following paperwork:
• Photo ID
• Social Security or Individual Identification Number for each family member and working adult
• All year-end tax forms and information
• Last year’s return (if possible)
• Bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit
