Lone Star College has been awarded one of 10 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grants from the Texas Work Commission (TWC). On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in a closed ceremony, TWC will present 10 JET grants, totaling $2,424,586.00 to ten grant recipients, including Alvin Community College, College of the Mainland, Harmony Public Schools Houston North (in partnership with Houston Community College), Lee College, Lone Star College, Palacios ISD (in partnership with Wharton County Junior College), San Jacinto College, Shepherd ISD (in partnership with Lone Star College), Wharton County Junior College, and Windham School District.

The JET grant makes it possible for us to purchase and install equipment to support the improvement of our HVAC program here at LSC-North Harris. With these funds, we will be able to purchase high-efficiency HVAC equipment that meets today’s industry standards.

This is crucial for our students, as it allows them to have the best educational experience, while giving them hands-on training on the latest systems and software. Doing so will allow us to meet industry standards and enhance our students’ training, giving them an edge on the competition when they are seeking employment.
