Lone Star College-Kingwood’s music department seeks experienced musicians from the community to participate in one of seven dynamic ensembles. Showcase your musical gifts while also helping students in the process.
From traditional student ensembles like the Concert Choir or Jazz Ensemble to the more community-based nighttime ensembles like the Kingwood Chorale, Kingwood Big Band, Kingwood Pops Orchestra or the Kingwood Winds, the community is invited to audition for a spot in any of these performing groups.
LSC-Kingwood graduate Mackenzie Strum now attends the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio but sang in various ensembles while she was a student.
"I was incredibly lucky to receive not only the financial support of the members of the Kingwood Chorale, but also the emotional. Every member of the choir genuinely wanted me to do well in both my musical and personal endeavors and I'm so thankful for the music I got to create in such a caring environment."
LSC-Kingwood boasts three choirs, two orchestras, two jazz groups, and a symphonic band, and community members and students can audition for placement in any ensemble. Seventy or so music majors perform in these groups, but community musicians help round out the groups and provide great mentorship to LSC-Kingwood budding musicians.
