Lone Star College System is home to more than 5,000 military-affiliated students and employees, including veterans who have courageously served in the U.S. military, active-duty service members, and their spouses and dependent children.
In honor of Veterans Day, LSCS Veteran Services is hosting the third annual “5K Rally Up Run” on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m.-noon at LSC-Kingwood. The celebratory event will welcome students, employees and community members.
Attendees can expect a family-friendly event featuring interactive and meaningful activities, including games, refreshments, a coloring flag station and an opportunity to write thank-you notes to veterans. There is no cost to participate in the 5K or other festivities.
“Lone Star College System is proud to recognize the men and women who have served our country this Veterans Day,” said LSCS Chief Veterans Officer and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. David J. Yebra. “We are sincerely grateful for these outstanding students and employees, and we are dedicated to ensuring they thrive on our campuses and beyond.”
This Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the college system’s 500-plus veteran employees will have a paid day off.
“Lone Star College System deeply respects the service and sacrifice of our veterans,” said Yebra. “Giving these heroes the day off is a small token of our appreciation.”
