Annual StarGala will support scholarships for Lone Star College System students

StarGala chairs
Houston Methodist nursing leaders Kerrie Guerrero, DNP, MBA, RN, NE-BC; Caroline Mascarenhas, DNP, RN, NEA-BC; and Nicole Twine, Ph.D., APRN, ACNP-BC, NE-BC will serve as this year’s co-chairs for Lone Star College Foundation’s StarGala.

Lone Star College Foundation helps remove financial barriers for thousands of students throughout their educational journeys, thanks to generous donors who support fundraising efforts, including the annual StarGala.

This year’s StarGala will be held May 2 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. The evening features cocktails, dinner, auctions, entertainment and dancing.

“Lone Star College Foundation exists to help make a high-quality college education more attainable through scholarships, emergency aid relief, textbook funds, meal vouchers and more. This crucial work would not be possible without the support of our community,” said Nicole Robinson Gauthier, CFRE, LSC Foundation executive director. “Because most of our students stay local after graduating, our donors see a significant return on their investment.”

Three leaders from Houston Methodist, a Shooting Star sponsor, will co-chair this year’s StarGala:

Dr. Kerrie Guerrero, DNP, MBA, RN, NE-BC, is the vice president and chief nursing officer at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, managing inpatient operations and hospital nursing staff. She was instrumental in the opening of this campus in 2017 and continues to foster professional growth, innovation and compassionate care.

Dr. Caroline Mascarenhas, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, serves as vice president and chief nursing officer at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, leading nursing teams to drive positive change and deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. She brings more than 25 years of nursing leadership experience, all with Houston Methodist.

Dr. Nicole Twine, Ph.D., APRN, ACNP-BC, NE-BC, serves as vice president and chief nursing officer at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. With more than 29 years in nursing and over 15 years of health care leadership, her career reflects a progression from clinical nursing to advanced practice provider and executive leadership roles. In her current role, Dr. Twine provides strategic and operational oversight of nursing, advancing excellence, innovation and patient-centered care across all service lines.

“The future of our industry—and so many others—depends on the students who are currently deciding what their next step is going to be,” said Guerrero, Mascarenhas and Twine. “Whether they’re coming to the end of their high school journey or planning to go back to school to advance their career, we are proud to support students in the pursuit of their goals.”
