Get ready to “Unearth a Story” as dinosaurs dominate the family fun for all ages during the Harris County Public Library’s (HCPL) annual Summer Reading Program (SRP) June 1 – Aug. 1 held at the Lone Star College-CyFair branch library.
Sign up for summer reading at one of LSC-CyFair’s library reference desks, via the Beanstack app or at the June 3 kickoff event from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. featuring dino-themed activities and crafts along with the chance to adopt a dinosaur friend (while supplies last).
Enjoy opportunities to log books read and earn cool prizes all summer long as well as attend story times, games, crafts, movies and special Wednesday events sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
What’s new on Wednesdays? LSC-CyFair welcomes Bright Star Theater’s “Dino Academy: A Dinosaur Discovery Show” June 24 with action-packed adventure starring life-like, colorful dinosaur puppets as well as Dino Bo’s interactive “Carnivores vs. Herbivores” program July 1.
Craving some faves? Get ready for the return of alligators, snakes, turtles and more with the "Texas Snakes" June 10 and “Crocodile Encounter” June 17, reading with the “Houston Astros Orbit” July 8, a performance with the “Houston Repertoire Ballet” July 28 (note this event is Tuesday) and tricks, twists and turns with John’s Got Magic July 29.
Free tickets for the SRP Wednesday programs are available in the library at the Kids Corner reference desk 30 minutes prior to each session.
In addition to the summer programming, LSC-CyFair’s Library offers a variety activities, book clubs and programs throughout the year designed for children/tweens (0-12), teens (13-18), and adults alike.
