Lone Star College-CyFair’s first fully bilingual art exhibition – “Etéreo/Ethereal” by Victoria Suarez, a 2019 LSC-CyFair alum and award-winning student artist to a now accomplished solo artist - is coming to the Bosque Gallery July 9-Aug. 20.
"Don't miss Victoria's journey of self-exploration through meditative studies of three-dimensional figurative muses created in clay as well as reverent scrutiny of nature's nuances captured via digital photography," said James Campbell, LSC-CyFair Art Department Chair.
In her artist statement, Suarez identifies her work as growing from "a whimsical dialogue between the natural world and the spiritual realm" and using layered interactive pigments as a surprise "revealing small moments of magic" when viewed up close. Describing nature as a constant collaborator and ceramics as spiritual, she combines materials in unexpected ways and offers multiple ways to interact with her artwork.
"Leaves, wings, tides and organic rhythms find their way into my sculptures ... as gestures of motion and life. I carve and texture the surface to invite touch and curiosity, letting each piece feel alive in its own way," she said. "(My ceramics) are invitations ... meant to be experienced rather than explained. I hope each piece feels like a pause, a gentle reminder that the world is full of movement, beauty, and mystery waiting to be seen."
To meet Suarez in person and learn more about her inspiring talent, including stunning artwork displayed around campus and in this summer's multi-media exhibition, attend the 5:30 p.m. opening and closing receptions or join the "Artist Talk" from noon – 2 p.m. July 23.
