The 2026 Mi Familia, Mi Futuro “Pathways to Success” Family Summer Camp gave families and students a firsthand look at the college experience, leaving participants inspired and better prepared to navigate their path to higher education.

The four-day program introduced students and their families to college, careers, and future opportunities. The camp welcomed an average of 35–45 participants each day, including a mix of students and parents from different backgrounds and age groups.

“I loved the college experience,” shared student Rickie Sadberry III. “I also gained friends and will be able to take away skills to make me more successful.”

Students and parents explored different career fields through interactive, hands-on challenges hosted by several Lone Star College-Kingwood departments. They learned about careers such as Polysomnography (sleep medicine), Cosmetology, Fire Science, Law Enforcement, Music, and more.

Students from The Honors College led a budgeting game, helping participants understand real-life college expenses and how to plan for them.

“I had a wonderful experience with Pathways to Success through Mi Familia Mi Futuro at Lone Star College-Kingwood,” remarked parent Jessica Balli. “The program was well organized, informative, and provided valuable resources for both students and families. The staff was welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping participants succeed.

I especially appreciated the guidance, encouragement, and opportunities provided to help students prepare for their future.”

During the week, the campers and their families also attended sessions on Artificial Intelligence, College Readiness, and Financial Aid.

The camp concluded with the Pathways to Success Graduation Ceremony, where every participant received a certificate recognizing their commitment and active participation throughout the week. To make the experience more meaningful, students and families wore caps and gowns, giving them the opportunity to envision themselves as future graduates, encourage them to recognize their potential, and reinforce the message that their educational and career goals are within reach.

“I am truly thankful for this program and the positive impact it has on our community,” said Balli. “Thank you for creating such a meaningful and valuable experience for families.”
