LSCS to hold open doors open house

(March 24,  2011) – Community members of all ages including high school students and their parents can get a first-hand look at the educational opportunities available to them at the upcoming Lone Star College open houses.

The various open house events will be held at each Lone Star College the week of March 28 – April 2.

The dates and times are as follows:

LSC-Kingwood: Monday, March 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

LSC-North Harris: Tuesday, March 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.

LSC-Montgomery: Tuesday, March 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

LSC-Tomball: Thursday, March 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

LSC-CyFair: Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

During these times, the colleges open their doors to the community for campus tours, financial aid assistance and information, help with the application and registration process, and information about programs, courses and the many student organizations.

Guests may also learn about the many advantages of attending Lone Star College – campuses are close to home for students who may have work or family obligations, and the potential earning power in the workplace of a worker with an associate degree is substantially higher than those with only a high school diploma.

In addition, Lone Star College offers specialized career training and certification in high-demand and growth industries like healthcare, energy, manufacturing and computer technology.

“In today’s economy, with tuition skyrocketing at four-year universities, Lone Star College is a much more affordable option for obtaining a quality education close to home,” said Laura Morris, associate vice chancellor of marketing and communications.

“This is a great opportunity to learn about all of the tremendous advantages offered by attending a Lone Star College,” said Morris.

The college open house events will also feature free food, music and giveaways that include Houston Rockets tickets (club level with parking passes), Wii game systems, scholarships and more.
