Join in the Earth Week celebration April 23-28

Earth Week 2012Join Lone Star College-CyFair’s eighth annual Earth Week celebration featuring a variety of presentations and activities April 23 through April 28.

Among the highlights of the week are a campus alternative energy ribbon-cutting ceremony, an electric car demonstration, a geocache race, a tree planting event and a poster contest as well as Adopt-A-Highway and Galveston beach clean up days.

LSC-CyFair faculty will host a film documentary on the resurgence of electric cars, sunrise bird watching and a student environmental debate on animal rights as well as present sessions titled “Understanding Climate”, “Calculating Energy Savings”, “Mountaintop Removal Mining”, “Angry Thirsty Birds; How Our Bird Population has Adjusted to Our Drought” (a joint A.L.L./L.I.F.E workshop) and “Drought, Fire and Nature’s Resilience.”

LSC-CyFair student organizations will host two days of The Wells Project Water Walk as well as a week-long electronics recycling effort.

Joining LSC-CyFair’s Sustainability Committee in sponsoring Earth Week at the Barker Cypress campus, 9191 Barker Cypress, are the Student Life Department and Windows on the World.
