Register Now for a Summer of Fun at LSC-Montgomery’s “Discovery College”

Even the youngest students can thrive at Lone Star College-Montgomery this summer during Discovery College, a fun and exciting enrichment program for youth beginning Monday, June 10. Registration kicks off this Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the continuing education office located in the Administration Building (E), Room 205.

Discovery College provides students ages 7-16 an opportunity to build their talents or develop new interests through a variety of one- or two-week class sessions that take place throughout the summer Monday through Thursday, from 1-5 p.m., at the LSC-Montgomery campus.

Knowledgeable instructors—usually college faculty, local school teachers, professional artists or performers—lead each class and encourage hands-on participation in a variety of subjects formatted for age-appropriate groups. The relaxed, creative atmosphere allows students to develop new skills, meet new friends, and enjoy learning in a safe environment.

Some of the fun and educational sessions include Bubbly Oozy Science, The Digital World, Sports Camp, Digging Archeology, CSI Crime Scene and RoboCamp. Each one-week session costs approximately $89, and the cost for the intensive two-week sessions range from $199 to $247.

Also, a special “Teen Track” has been added for 13-16 year olds who might appreciate classes like Video and Digital Production, College Prep, or Practical University geared especially for their age group.

Early registration is encouraged as classes can fill quickly.

If parents can’t make the registration kick-off event on March 23, they may register their child in person at the LSC-Montgomery campus, Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the continuing education office (Building E, Room 205). Registration is only available in person.
