Assistance League® has Scholarship Money for College Students

Lone Star College-Montgomery students—especially those returning to college after a major life or career change—have a unique scholarship opportunity from Assistance League® of Montgomery County.

Several $750 ‘Return to Education’ scholarships will be awarded this summer to worthy students who are entering or already attending LSC-Montgomery or Lone Star College-Conroe Center in pursuit of a career that benefits others. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college in time for the summer or fall semesters, as well as the spring 2014 semester.

“Helping a person gain academic credentials to pursue a job or even enter a new career path because of a life altering event is an important boost we can offer Montgomery County residents,” said Janey Gehring, a volunteer with Assistance League®. “We are dedicated to helping worthy individuals, who find themselves in such circumstances, help themselves.”

Potential recipients must be 18 years or older, be a resident of Montgomery County, and have a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must complete an application, which includes an essay that depicts their need for financial aid, describes their vocational goals, and explains how achieving those goals will impact their life.

The scholarship application and instructions for submission can be found online at www.assistanceleaguemont-co.org or through the LSC-Montgomery financial aid office.

Completed applications are due by Friday, May 10. Applications can be mailed (postmarked on or before May 10) or hand delivered to: Assistance League Scholarship Committee, Attention: Janita Love, 126 North San Jacinto, Conroe, Texas 77301.
