Registration is now underway for the 26th Annual Scarlett Scamper K-9 Fun Run.  This year’s event, sponsored by Lone Star College-Tomball Veterinary Technology Student Organization (VTSO), will be held on October 26, from 7:30 - 10:00 a.m., and is open to the public.

Part K-9 run, part K-9 costume contest, the one-mile run will be held over a course around the LSC-Tomball campus, and canine competitors will be broken down by weight into four groups: 1 ?20 pounds, 21 ?40 pounds, 41 ?60 pounds and 61+ pounds.  Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each weight group as well as one overall Grand Champion.  The “Best Costumed” dog in each group will also win a trophy.

Packet pickup and registration ($15) runs from 7:30 ?8:30 a.m. at the Large Animal Facility/Veterinary Technology Building; the costume contest is from 8:30 ?9:00 a.m.; and the race begins 9:15 a.m.  All dogs must have current vaccinations and leashes 6 feet or under to be eligible to participate; minors participating with their dogs must have parental consent.

In 2008, the VTSO decided to add “Scarlett Scamper” to the event’s name in honor of the late, six-time canine winner, Scarlett Younger.
