LSC-Tomball’s Music Department to Hold an Information Session on June 1

TOMBALL, Texas – LSC-Tomball’s Music Department will hold an information session on June 1 for high school students interested in exploring college level musical study.

“LSC-Tomball is looking for music students, singers and instrumentalists, interested in learning diverse repertoire, being a part of a warm community, and representing the college as music ambassadors. To that end, we have scholarships to give,” said LSC-Tomball’s Fine Arts Chair and Music Program Director Dr. Lisa Morales.

Morales explained that the information session, called “An Evening with the LSC-Tomball Music Department,” will start at 6 pm, followed by auditions at 7 pm in E252, LSC-Tomball’s Music Rehearsal Hall.

“This will be a great opportunity for prospective students to hear what we’re planning for next year,” Morales stressed, before adding, “I’m looking for student leaders who will contribute greatly to the program and in turn receive scholarship funds.”

The information session, according to Morales, will include:

•    2017-2018 plans and unique opportunities for LSC-Tomball musical students
•    Information on how LSC-Tomball prepares students for four-year college audition process
•    Faculty perspectives
•    Wisdom from current LSC-Tomball students
•    Scholarship opportunities and LSC-Tomball auditions
•    The opportunity to sign up to take a 30-minute lesson during the summer

“I am excited about growing the music program – each year, I’ve seen more dedicated students enter our fold,” Morales noted. “The LSC-Tomball Music Department has grown quite a bit in the past couple of years. We have received a lot of advanced instruction, ensemble experience, and performance opportunities to offer students wanting to explore college level music study. We now have graduates who have auditioned for and been accepted to music programs at Belmont University, Sam Houston State University, University of St. Thomas, Houston Baptist University, Stephen F. Austin University, and the University of Houston. This is a testimony to the quality of musical training happening here on our campus.”

To attend the information session, or to audition, please RSVP to Morales by calling (281) 401-1845, or send an email to lisa.morales@lonestar.edu.
