Meet the new Student Government Association President Natalia Arizmendi

For Natalia Arizmendi, the 2017-2018 Student Government Association (SGA) president, being an active participant in the LSC-University Park community is the best way to experience college life.

Arizmendi is an International Studies sophomore and an Honors College Chancellor’s Fellow. In addition to her SGA commitments, Arizmendi serves as the new vice president of the International Studies Club, is a member of the Honors College Mentor Program, and works off-campus at Habitat for Humanity.

“I tend to take on a multitude of things because I enjoy being involved,” said Arizmendi. “I have found that the more involved you are on campus and in the community, the more you enrich your life.”

This summer, Arizmendi and other SGA officers are working to launch a new service project, a digital food pantry. They are calling potential sponsors and fine-tuning details in hopes of introducing the project to the LSC-University Park community as soon as possible, Arizmendi said.

The SGA officers also hope to increase awareness and participation in campus organizations and activities.

“I think the greatest mistake many students make is overlooking and taking for granted all of the wonderful opportunities made available to them at LSC-University Park,” said Arizmendi. “I think that greater involvement and awareness is possible through working with other campus organizations.”

Beyond college, Arizmendi plans to go far. Her goal is to become a lawyer, perhaps in international law.

Make LSC part of your story.
