LSC-Tomball’s Performing Arts Department Kicks off Concert Season with Spooktacular Event

TOMBALL, TexasLSC-Tomball’s Fine & Performing Arts Department will hold its first concert of the season, A Halloween Spooktacular, at 7 p.m., Oct., 24, in the Performing Arts Center.

“We started doing the Spooktacular in the fall of 2013 and we believe that this year’s event will be fun for the entire family,” said Dr. Lisa Morales, LSC-Tomball Fine Arts chair and music program director.

The fun begins at 5 p.m., with a festival hosted by LSC-Tomball’s Arts, Behavioral & Social Sciences Division, in the parking lot of the Performing Arts Center.

“This is the first time that there has ever been a festival before the concert,” Morales said. “There will be food trucks, games, prizes, and costume contests. We want people to know that they don’t have to rush to get here. The entire family can come and enjoy food and all of the festivities from 5 to 7 p.m. at their leisure, and attend the Spooktacular after that.”

The Halloween-themed and family-friendly concert features the LSC-Tomball Concert Choir, Jazz Band, and department musicians offering a rousing selection of seasonal favorites. The Tomball Intermediate School Choir will also provide musical selections.

Those in attendance can expect to hear selections such as Double Trouble from Harry Potter, and also the world premiere of LSC-Tomball instructor Thomas Bailey.

“He is a wonderful composer,” Morales stressed, before adding, “He has his own distinctive sound. We’re very excited about this year’s Spooktacular and the rest of the concert season.”

There are 16 music events scheduled for the calendar year. All events are open to the community and admission prices vary, though many events are free of charge. General admission to the Spooktacular concert is $10. Tickets for seniors and LSC students are $5.
