Hall and Clark showcase LSC-North Harris longevity and staff excellence

Lone Star College-North Harris has an extended history of committed employees with talents rooted in their commitments to further student success.

This commitment can be shown through the careers of two professors, Alan Hall and Gary Clark, who were recently recognized at the 2019 Lone Star College Employee Awards Ceremony. They have been members of the faculty longer than anyone else on campus, a combined 85 years.

Professor Alan Hall began his career as an English professor at Lone Star College-North Harris 45 years ago. Originally called North Harris College, Hall recalls LSC-North Harris beginning with 12 faculty members housed at Carroll Elementary in Aldine ISD.

“We taught classes at night at Aldine High School,” he said. “It has been an amazing ride watching LSC grow from those early beginnings to the system we now have.”

Professor Gary Clark began teaching business at LSC-North Harris nearly 40 years ago. He was recently awarded the 2018 John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award, an award highlighting excellence among community college faculty and staff.

“My teaching efforts have always been directed toward helping students gain the knowledge that will improve their lives,” he said. “The award I always seek and will continue to seek is the success of my students.”  Clark notes, “I fell in love with teaching, and the rest is history.”  He said, “I’d suggest caring first and foremost about serving your students.”

Lone Star College offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education to 99,000 students each semester.
