LSC-University Park celebrates graduates with the help of inspiring community leaders

HOUSTON – The Lone Star College-University Park community is coming together to celebrate the accomplishments of the college’s graduates with the Class of 2020 Virtual Celebration Thursday, May 28, at 5 p.m. on Facebook Premiere. Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, LSC-University Park is finding innovative ways to meaningfully commemorate graduates and serve the community’s education needs.

The virtual celebration will feature appearances and uplifting messages from local community leaders including: U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Jovita Corranza; Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo; Judge Lincoln Goodwin, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4; State Representative Sam Harless, District 126; Commissioner R. Jack Cagle, Harris County Precinct 4; Commissioner Adrian Garcia, Harris County Precinct 2; Klein Independent School District (ISD) Superintendent Jenny McGown; Spring ISD Superintendent Rodney Watson; Virtual Intelligence Providers, LLC Founder, President and CEO Sonia Clayton; Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital CEO Keith Barber; St. Luke’s Hospital at the Vintage President Mario Garner; Author, Professor, Organizer and Philanthropist Carlos Wallace; Cy-Fair and Spring Klein Community Impact Newspaper General Manager Kim Giannetti; Allstate Insurance Owner and Agent Larry Lipton; and Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bobby Lieb.

During the ceremony, each graduate will be acknowledged personally. Video messages from faculty, students, LSC-University Park vice presidents and LSCGeneral Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Mario Castillo will be included. LSC-University Park President Dr. Shah Ardalan will also deliver an encouraging message to LSC-University Park graduates as they pursue their future endeavors.

“It’s important that during these uncertain times, we find ways to come together. This virtual graduation ceremony is a way for us all to join forces to recognize our LSC-University Park graduates who’ve worked hard to accomplish their dreams,” said President Ardalan. “Whether they plan to begin their journey in the professional world or continue to seek a higher degree, we want to honor our students for all they’ve done achieved while at LSC-University Park. Congratulations to all Class of 2020 graduates!”
