Dr. Michael Burns named Vice President of Instruction at Lone Star College-North Harris

Michael Burns, Ph.D., has been named the Vice President of Instruction at Lone Star College-North Harris after filling the position as interim in October 2021.

Before taking over the position in October, Burns served as the Dean of Career and Applied Technologies at LSC-North Harris since 2015, and the director of Corporate College for

Lone Star College System for three years.

While serving as dean, he participated in the design of the Construction and Skilled Trades Technology Center, assisted with the design of the Welding and Non-Destructive Technology labs for LSC-East Aldine Center, and helped create the plan for the new Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Energy, Manufacturing, and Trades Management.

“I look forward to continuing to serve our students as the Vice President of Instruction and helping them reach their academic goals,” said Burns. “As interim, I met with faculty members and learned some of the nuances within different divisions and departments across the college that I had little interaction with as the Dean of Career and Applied technology.”

Burns graduated with an Associate of Science from Vincennes University, a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University, and his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University.
