Lone Star College (LSC) and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) have agreed to form an articulation partnership to make it easier for LSC students to transfer credits toward a bachelor’s degree.

“Our students do very well when they transfer to four-year universities,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC Chancellor. “Many of our students look to attend out of state universities when they finish here and agreements like this will ensure the credit hours they earned will apply at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.”

An articulation agreement is an official partnership between two or more institutions of higher education. This type of agreement is typically formed between a community college and a four-year institution with the goal of developing a seamless transfer process for students.

“We always knew we had to have a Lone Star College connection,” said Austin A. Lane, SIU Carbondale Chancellor. “This partnership is just the beginning. We want Lone Star College students to earn their associate degrees and then enroll at our institution to continue their education.”

SIU Carbondale is a doctoral research university enrolling students from all 50 states and approximately 100 countries. It offers approximately 100 undergraduate degrees with more than 170 specializations and over 100 minors. Programs also include about 80 master’s degrees and more than 30 doctoral degrees, in addition to professional degrees in law and medicine.

The signing ceremony took place at LSC-University Center at The Woodlands, which allows students to earn their bachelor’s and master’s degrees close to home. Fall registration is underway. Visit LoneStar.edu/Start to learn more about all the educational opportunities LSC has to offer.
