LSC named a 2023 Great College to Work For®
Lone Star College has been named a 2023 Great Colleges to Work For® institution by the Chronicle of Higher Education and ModernThink LLC.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has named Lone Star College a 2023 Great Colleges to Work For® recipient for the 10th year. LSC has earned this achievement seven years in a row.

“Lone Star College is committed to fostering a collaborative and valuable workplace for over 7,000 employees, which has a direct and positive impact on student success,” said Mario K. Castillo, J.D., LSC Chancellor. “Receiving this recognition shows ‘One Lone Star College’ is creating top-level opportunities to ensure our students achieve their educational and career goals.”

The 2023 Great Colleges to Work For® program evaluated 194 institutions nationwide on their efforts to create great workplaces, further research and understand the factors, dynamics and influences that have the most impact on organizational culture in higher education. LSC was one of 72 institutions (22 two-year colleges) that earned the recognition this year. Additionally, the college excelled in three categories: Shared Governance, Faculty Experience and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging.

“Lone Star College values the experience and expertise that each employee brings to the table,” said Patricia Woods, LSC Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Human Resources. “Lone Star College understands that positive contributions can spark growth, which enhances our services to students and the community.”

The Chronicle of Higher Education and ModernThink LLC administered a two-part assessment process to colleges in deciding Great Colleges to Work For® honorees. LSC employees received an Insight Survey© and the feedback was a primary factor in the decision. The college also completed an Institution Questionnaire© to capture updated employment data and workplace policies and practices.

“Participation in the Great Colleges program alone demonstrates a commitment from colleges to opening a dialogue with their faculty and staff,” said Karen Kukulka, ModernThink Chief Operating Officer. “Pair that commitment with recognition in a key area of engagement, and you’ve got a group of institutions who are putting the best practices of employee engagement to work – they are walking the talk.”

Lone Star College received the Great Colleges award in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs nationally. Visit GreatCollegesProgram.com for more information.
