Lone Star College-Houston North Partners with the National Endowment for the Arts to Bring Exhibits to the Community

HOUSTON (April 18, 2022)- Lone Star College-Houston North (LSC-HN) in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Big Read, will present four exhibitions that will showcase at all the college’s locations (Fairbanks, Fallbrook, Greenspoint, and Victory) and are organized by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, with support from T. L. L. Temple Foundation.

The LSC-HN Fairbanks location will showcase “Fact, Fiction, and the New World: The Role of Books in the Making of America.” This exhibit will set people to think about the power of stories and the lure of newly found lands.  This bilingual panel exhibition highlights the ways in which books determined what people looked for in the New World and how they interpreted what they saw.

“Texas Writers”, located at the LSC-HN Fallbrook location, surveys the vitality and breadth of creative writing in Texas from mid-twentieth century to the present day in a series of panels featuring portraits of authors, books, workplaces, narrative settings and evocative quotations.

LSC-HN Greenspoint and Victory locations will showcase Voces Americanas/American Voices: Latino Literature in the United States.” “Voces Americanas” is based on an original exhibition at the University of Houston Library that documented a quarter century of Hispanic publishing in the United States. It is a celebratory survey of works by Latinos that is comprised of images of authors, books, movie stills, public presentations, and illustrations.

All exhibits will be available to the public from April 25, 2022 through May 15, 2022.
