Learn about Birds, Trees, Energy, Sustainable Eating and More during Campus Sustainability Day Oct. 25

Campus Sustainability Day Join college faculty, staff and students for Campus Sustainability Day being held Tuesday, Oct. 25.

College faculty from multiple disciplines – biology, geology, kinesiology, math, philosophy and environmental science – as well as staff and student club members have planned a day of activities, presentations and more.

Among the activities are bird watching, a morning health walk and afternoon tree walk around campus as well as a campus landscaping video.

There are a variety of faculty and student presentations such as “The Man Who Planted Trees” video and discussion; “Understanding El Niño and Climate Variability”; “Eating Sustainably: Making Sense of  ‘Organic’, ‘Local’, ‘Grass-Fed’, ‘Farm-Raised’ and other Food Options”; “Eating Sustainably: A Conversation About Food”; “The Importance of Trees” and ‘Calculating Energy Savings.”

All presentations will be held in the Center for Academic and Student Affairs (CASA) room 110.

Two additional events are planned as well. A presentation titled “The Ethics of Ecology” will be held Oct. 26 in CASA room 110. An Adopt-A-Highway clean up will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Oct. 28. Volunteers should meet at 8 a.m. at the LSC-CyFair tennis court parking lot.
