Lone Star College-Online proudly unveiled the official logo of its new mascot - Blaze the Dragon- at Fall Convocation 2025. The new logo marks a milestone in the development of the campus’s identity and celebrates its students’ creativity.
To bring Blaze to life visually, LSC-Online launched a student design contest, inviting learners to submit original artwork that captured the spirit of the new mascot. Dozens of submissions showcased the creativity of the student body, but Alina Ashfaq’s (associate of arts student) entry stood out from the rest, making it the winning design.
“When I found out that I won, I was honestly so surprised and very happy,” said Ashfaq. “I wanted to show that this dragon is a star in its own right, just like the Lone Star College-Online students. There are many reasons why students can’t attend classes on campus, i.e., medical reasons, transportation issues, or simply being introverted. I wanted to show that we are equally engaged and just as important. Blaze the Dragon represents them standing strong and shining brightly like a star.”
The new mascot and logo journey began with a campus-wide vote, where students, faculty and staff selected the dragon as LSC-Online’s official mascot. A second round of voting gave the dragon its name, “Blaze.”
“We are honored to mark this important milestone at our Fall Convocation with the unveiling of Blaze the Dragon’s official logo,” said Dr. Carlos R. Morales, LSC-Online president. “Partnering with Alina Ashfaq, one of our incredibly talented students, has been a privilege—her creativity and passion embody the spirit of our Lone Star College-Online campus and bring Blaze to life in a way that inspires us all.”
Blaze the Dragon now serves as the official emblem of Lone Star College-Online and will appear on merchandise, digital platforms and promotional materials. Blaze is ready to fire up school spirit across the campus.
