LSC-North Harris History

Lone Star College-North Harris, nestled on 200 acres of piney woods, is the original college in the Lone Star College System family. Celebrating 36 years of service in 2009, LSC-North Harris opened its doors in 1973 and offers more than 80 programs of study, including university-transfer and numerous workforce education courses and programs. Lone Star College-North Harris is keenly focused on leading-edge technology in emerging technical job fields. The college serves as north Houston's center for the arts, and includes a juried art gallery and comprehensive fine arts curriculum with a calendar full of free and low-cost visual, applied and performing arts events and exhibits. In partnership with the Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA of Greater Houston, LSC-North Harris offers a variety of child care options for the children of students, faculty and staff, and the community at-large.

To provide convenient locations that serve residents in the greater Greenspoint and South Aldine and Acres Homes communities, Lone Star College-North Harris has two full-service satellite centers; the LSC-Greenspoint Center and LSC-Victory Center. Both centers offer day, evening and weekend classes in computers, English, speech, art appreciation, history, government, math, drafting, business, and health, as well as many other university-transfer and job-preparatory courses.

Student success services for admissions, advising/counseling, financial aid, library services, career advisement and tutoring are available.
