The Lone Star College-Process Technology Center is expanding its educational offerings to include a Water/Wastewater Continuing Education Certification Program starting in February 2026.
This initiative will equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for careers in water and wastewater management, a sector critical to public health and environmental sustainability. Water and wastewater technicians are responsible for ensuring clean, safe water for public use and the proper treatment of wastewater before it is released back into the environment.
“We are excited to be able to offer a Certificate Program that will allow someone to complete a twenty-hour class and immediately enter the Water-Wastewater industry. The job opportunities are limitless and available throughout the state,” shared Continuing Education Director, Pat Chandler.
The certification program will be housed at the LSC-Process Technology Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to workforce training in process and instrumentation technology. The program will begin with two 20-hour classes—Basic Water Works Operations and Basic Wastewater Operations—occurring from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. two days a week for five days. Students can choose to take one of the classes.
The introduction of this certification aligns with Lone Star College's commitment to providing over 200 degree and certification programs that cater to the evolving needs of the workforce. These programs focus on the key technical and behavioral skills needed in the targeted occupations and include industry-recognized certifications or state and national occupational accreditations. By offering specialized training in water and wastewater management, LSC-Kingwood aims to prepare students for high-demand roles in this essential industry.
