The Lone Star College-Kingwood Theatre Department is proud to announce it has earned a Superior Rating for the production, “16th Evening of Shorts” during the Texas Community College Speech & Theatre Association (TCCSTA) Play Festival, February 25-28.

The cast and crew also dominated with other awards for ensembles and individual performances.

Theatre Director Eric Skiles said one award he’s especially thrilled to receive is the Sherry Ryan White Outstanding Ensemble Award.

“The Shorts is designed to be student-centric, allowing our students to write, direct, and design short plays. In addition, we strive to create a theatre environment that is positive, professional, and productive. This award lets us know that we are successful in both of these goals.”

Andres Chavez was one of the students who received a Superior in Directing.

“Theatre is the space where my creativity feels limitless and my heart feels understood. It constantly teaches me how to grow — as an artist and as a person,” he said. “Receiving this award means more than I can put into words, especially because how much work, tears and joy went into this process.”
