International Education Symposium

Interested in virtual exchange but don’t know where to start? This networking opportunity will allow you to interact with international partners and organizations to facilitate virtual exchange collaboration which may include future overseas travel sponsored by Lone Star College. This is a great opportunity if you are interested in international education including virtual exchange and internationalizing your course.

 

 

A one-day, virtual event to connect Lone Star College faculty and administrators with our international partners for the purpose of transforming education for a globalized world. Join us as we celebrate International Education in all its forms, including international programs, culture, scholarship, diversity, students, faculty, leaders, citizens, collaborations, pathways, exploration, courses, industry, and partnerships.

  • Introductions with our international partners in the Philippines and France
  • Best practices session on how to build virtual exchange into your courses
  • Interactive session on how to internationalize your courses

Call for Student Posters

Submit your proposal now through October 8, 2023

Students are invited to participate in a Student Poster Session at the Lone Star College International Studies Symposium. Students’ posters may feature international/intercultural-related research or a critical reflection on a college-sponsored international experience (i.e., study abroad/study away, virtual exchange, National Model United Nations, internship, service learning, etc.)

Cash prizes will be awarded for outstanding posters in each category.

Call for Student Artwork/Photo Submissions

Submit your art & photography now through October 30, 2023

This year, students are also invited to participate in an Art & Photography Contest at the Lone Star College International Education Symposium. Students’ may submit artistic photos, art prints, and sculptures that represent or feature international/intercultural-related research or a critical reflection on a college-sponsored international experience (i.e., study abroad/study away, virtual exchange, National Model United Nations, internship, service learning, etc.)

Submissions must meet the following criteria:

  • You may upload up to 3 works for entry. Be sure the images are cropped, edited, and ready to post virtually. This year, artistic photo submissions are included in the contest.
  • You must include a 250-300 word “wall text” that describes how your artwork relates to…
  • You must include dimensions for the artwork.

Awards:

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top submissions

Selections for the Student Artwork and Photography Contest will be on view at the International Education Symposium and may be displayed across the college system.

Entry Instructions:

Step 1. Combine up to 3 images into 1 PDF file that is no larger than 10 MB labeled “FirstName_LastName_StudentIDNumber_Semester_Year”

Step 2. As the submission deadline approaches, upload both files to this Google Drive Folder.

Step 3. Check your e-mail daily soon after the deadline to prepare and drop off any accepted work.
