About the XR Lab

The XR Lab, formerly the VR Lab, is a hands-on learning space for Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR). The name was updated to reflect an expanded scope beyond VR: more tools, more experiences, same room. You may still see “VR Lab” on older flyers or links; that is still us in Room E251.

The goal is simple: learn by doing in immersive environments that make complex concepts easier to understand. Students, faculty, and staff use the lab for coursework, projects, class activities, workshops, and, when appropriate, games and wellness activities.

Who Can Use the Lab?

  • Students: Visit during posted Open Lab hours or request time when the lab is not booked for classes.
  • Faculty and Staff: Reserve the lab for classes, workshops, demos, and instructional activities.
  • Clubs: Request reservation time for projects, events, or student activities.
  • Community: Public programs are not available right now. Future partnerships will be announced on the Lab Calendar.

The XR Lab is supported by a dedicated AR/VR Technician, not OTS, for setup and basic troubleshooting during scheduled use.
