Plan Your Path to Success for the Year Ahead

Lone Star College understands that life sometimes gets in the way of your plans. That's why we're making a full academic year course schedule available to help you plan your classes alongside your work schedule, child care, transportation and more.

Starting in April 2024, you'll be able to see a full year of LSC courses for the 2024-2025 academic year. While you won't be able to register for a full year of classes quite yet, you'll be able to see the classes and plan your year. Be sure to reference your student Pathway Plan to ensure you stay on target and finish on-time.

Student FAQs

Can I register for a course that has a prerequisite?: In the first year, 2024-2025, students will be able to view a full academic year schedule only, not register.
Will the instructor's syllabi also be available a year in advance?: Syllabi will be available per semester no later than the 7th day of class. however, you can go and view an instructor's past syllabus to get some clarification about the course that you might be taking.
Will the new annual course schedule be based on the academic year, fiscal year, or calendar year?: It is based on the academic year calendar as in the past.
Will the mini-mesters be included in the annual course schedule?: Yes
Will the classes offered be a part of my academic plan?: The courses are already available on your academic plan. You will be able to see what day and time that classes are available and best fit with your schedule.
Do I have to commit to the classes that I selected? Am I able to change them?: You will only be able to view the schedule of an entire year of classes. You will not be able to register for a full year yet.
Can I still change my schedule after I've registered?: Yes, you may change a schedule up to a day prior to the class starting.
When will I be able to enroll for classes for an entire year?: Registration for an entire year will be available starting in April 2025.
Will the textbook requirements be available a year in advance?: No, the textbook cannot be viewed by the student until the bookstore opens for the semester.
Will there be support for those who aren't computer/tech savvy?: Yes, student services staff are available at every campus to assist students with planning and registering for classes.
Will MyLoneStar be updated (or look different) now?: No, the schedule will be provided through your MyLoneStar (Class Search and Enroll) or at www.lonestar.edu/class as it is now.
Do I have to use the Annual Course Schedule to plan my classes?: No, it is optional.
What happens when a professor gets a new job? Will the class be cancelled?: Every effort will be made to not cancel the class but instead get a new instructor to teach it.
What do I do if I am not able to enroll in my classes early?: Registration is not available yet as part of annual course scheduling.
Will I have trouble enrolling in a class close to the start of the semester?: The schedule is constantly monitored and additional course sections are offered as needed; however, it is always a good idea to register as early as possible in order to get your preferred course selection and time.
What if all classes get full before a new student, like me, has the opportunity to enroll?: All students are able to register at the same time.
If I don't see the course that I need or they are full, will additional course options be added later?: Yes, let your advisor know. We always add classes if needed.
Do I still need to meet with my advisor if I am registered for the full year?: Registration for a full year will not be available until April 2025. Once registration for the full year has opened, then you may not need to meet with your advisor. However, advisors are always available to help you find the classes that you need.
What happens if I change my major/area of study that I have already registered for the full academic year?: For now, annual course scheduling does not give you the ability to register for the full year, but you can always plan your new classes in MyLoneStar anytime you change your area of study.
What happens if I change my home college?: Nothing. You are welcome to take classes at any LSC location. Your home campus should be declared for the campus where you plan to take the majority of your classes and where your programs are offered.
If I am on academic suspension, can I register for the full academic year?: If you are on academic suspension, then you are required to meet with an advisor to register for your classes.
If I am on academic probation at the time I register for the full year and then go into academic dismissal the following term, will I be dropped from classes for the remaining terms?: Currently at LSC, if you register before your academic standing has been updated to a suspended status, then you will not automatically dropped from your courses.

Financial FAQs

How does this impact FAFSA and Financial Aid? Will my classes be reviewed for Financial Aid Eligibility for all semesters that I register for?: We review a student’s eligibility for financial aid for all terms for which they are enrolled. We award and pay financial aid on a semester basis, and this does not change with the new enrollment option. Summer financial aid will continue to be processed separately from the fall and spring terms.

Employee FAQs

How will the annual course schedule impact professors who teach courses above their normal workload?: Faculty will be able to more easily plan ahead for their overloads and releases.
Will there be workshops for using the Annual Course Schedule effectively?: For faculty and staff, Academic Affairs can hold a workshop and tips. For students, I would have to rely on student support services.
How will multi-semester registration work with prerequisite courses?: Students are able to register for courses that have prerequisites as long as they are currently enrolled in the prerequisite.
What is the process for dropping students who did not successfully pass course prerequisites?: There is functionality in iStar to mass-drop students who do not successfully pass their course prerequisites; however, there would need to be a an institutional policy created in order to mandate a drop of that nature as currently students are not removed from classes if they register for the course prior to demonstrating they have not met the prerequisite requirement.
Will there be any limits or deadlines for departments to make schedule changes?: Fall, Spring, and Summer schedules need to be completed two weeks prior to registration opening for the Fall. Schedule changes to the schedule will be processed as they are currently.
