Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible?

For the purposes of this program, students who have stopped out include, at a minimum, any student exiting higher education without a credential who has not attended any accredited higher education institution for at least one (1) full-length academic semester. For example, if you attended college for Fall 2021, but did not attend in Spring 2022, you could be eligible. If you attended college in Spring 2020 and have not attended college since then, you could be eligible.

Do I have to enroll to receive funds?

Yes, you must enroll for a Summer 2022 class at Lone Star College and stay enrolled passed the census date. Registration for Summer is open now. To access registration resources visit our Registration page.

How do I apply for the grant?

You can access the grant application at the following link: Grad TX 2.0 Application

How will I know if I am selected?

Selected students will be notified via their Lone Star College email address a week before funds disburse. If you are eligible, funds will disburse to your student account after the census date of your class(es). Funds will cover your remaining Summer 2022 balance up to $500. If your balance is already paid, the excess funds will be refunded to you.

If I am eligible for a refund how will I receive the money?

It is highly recommended that students create an electronic refund account to receive their funds faster. You need a valid bank account to do this. Students who sign up for an electronic refund typically receive their funds up to a week faster. If you do not have a refund profile setup, a check will be mailed to your home address. Make sure your address informaiton is current to prevent further delay. To obtain more information about refunds, including steps on how to setup an electronic refund profile, visit our Refund page.
