Mission Statement
The mission of the Lone Star College–Kingwood Electroneurodiagnostic Technology Program is to prepare competent, compassionate, and highly skilled neurodiagnostic professionals through comprehensive education, hands-on laboratory training, and diverse clinical experiences. The program is committed to developing graduates who demonstrate technical excellence, critical thinking, professionalism, ethical practice, and patient-centered care while meeting the evolving needs of the neurodiagnostic profession and the communities we serve.
Program Goals
The goals of the Lone Star College–Kingwood Electroneurodiagnostic Technology Program are to:
- Prepare competent entry-level neurodiagnostic technologists who demonstrate the knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviors necessary to perform safe, accurate, and high-quality neurodiagnostic procedures.
- Prepare graduates for professional credentialing and employment by providing a comprehensive curriculum and clinical education that supports successful transition into the neurodiagnostic workforce and pursuit of nationally recognized credentials.
- Promote safe, ethical, and patient-centered care by developing graduates who demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, cultural awareness, respect for patient rights, and adherence to established standards of practice.
- Develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills that enable graduates to recognize normal and abnormal neurophysiologic data, identify and troubleshoot technical and physiologic artifacts, adapt procedures to individual patient needs, and obtain high-quality, interpretable recordings.
- Meet the needs of students, graduates, employers, and the healthcare community through continuous program evaluation and improvement, including assessment of student learning, graduate outcomes, employer and graduate satisfaction, credentialing success, and employment outcomes.
Program Overview
All technical course work for the program is completed on campus during the day. The clinical experiences are 2-3 days per week at hospitals and Neurodiagnostic Centers in the greater Houston area. Graduates are prepared for the Registry Exam of American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Lone Star College–Kingwood Electroneurodiagnostic Technology Program, graduates will be able to:
- Apply Neurodiagnostic Knowledge- Integrate knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurological disorders, instrumentation, and neurodiagnostic principles to recognize normal and abnormal findings and support the acquisition of clinically meaningful neurodiagnostic data.
- Demonstrate Clinical and Technical Competence- Safely and accurately perform entry-level neurodiagnostic procedures by applying appropriate electrode placement, instrumentation, recording techniques, troubleshooting, artifact recognition, patient safety practices, and technical documentation to obtain high-quality, interpretable recordings.
- Demonstrate Professional and Patient-Centered Practice- Provide safe, ethical, and compassionate patient care while demonstrating effective communication, professionalism, critical thinking, teamwork, respect for patient rights and diversity, and adherence to professional standards of practice.
