Lone Star College Foundation celebrates student success at annual Donor Appreciation Lunch

LSC Foundation Donor Luncheon 2024
Lone Star College and LSC Foundation recognized students who earned a scholarship for their winning entries in the Chancellor’s Essay Contest.

Lone Star College Foundation’s financial investment in LSC students’ educational goals leads to changed lives and brighter futures.

“Lone Star College Foundation serves as the fundraising nonprofit arm for Lone Star College to help students fulfill their academic dreams,” said Nicole Robinson Gauthier, CFRE, LSC Foundation Executive Director. “We rely on the generous donations from businesses and individuals to help students earn a degree without experiencing heavy financial hardships.”

LSC and LSC Foundation recognized 16 students who earned a scholarship for their winning entries in the Chancellor’s Essay Contest, “How My Lone Star College Experience Has Influenced My Life,” at the annual Chancellor’s Donor Appreciation Luncheon Feb. 20.

“Lone Star College is humbled to hear the courageous experiences our students go through to attend classes and we will continue to offer support through Lone Star College Foundation to ensure their success,” said Mario K. Castillo, J.D., LSC chancellor. “Lone Star College is grateful to our community members whose generous support is helping to fund our students’ dreams.”

At the Chancellor’s Donor Appreciation Lunch, eight of the 16 recipients read their essays. Each LSC campus selected two students to receive the scholarship.

“The foundation I am building at Lone Star College will shape the rest of my education when I move on,” said Alexandria Hays, LSC-Online student. “I am building time management, communication and many other skills to carry out in my career. I could not have gone to college without the help of Lone Star College and its teaching program. I am excited to see where this program takes me.”

The Chancellor’s Essay Scholarship is funded by Entergy Texas, a longtime LSC Foundation supporter. Recipients will use the funds to pay for tuition, books and fees.
