Avoid the “Summer Melt” at Lone Star College

LSC May, Summer 2024 registration
Lone Star College summer registration begins March 4 for the May Mini-term, Summer I and Summer II sessions.

The United States Department of Education estimates that 44% of low-income, college-eligible high school graduates in Texas will not attend college in the fall, but instead “melt” away during the summer. Lone Star College wants to change the “Summer Melt” experience by offering affordable and high-quality educational programs.

“Lone Star College has numerous resources (academic, financial and student support) to help you make a sustainable plan toward earning a college degree, transferring to a four-year institution or entering the workforce,” said Jamie Posey, LSC associate vice chancellor, Student Success and Completion. “Lone Star College aims to train future leaders through top-level academic and workforce programs.”

The LSC summer registration period opens March 4 for anyone interested in starting, continuing or completing their college education at an accelerated pace. May Mini-Term begins May 13 and ends June 9; Summer I runs June 3-July 9 and Summer II starts July 11 and ends Aug. 19.

“The opportunity I’m receiving at Lone Star College is far more valuable than any stereotypical TV college experience,” said Elizabeth Maupin, LSC-Montgomery student. “I feel more confident in my skills as a student and more prepared for my future because of my time at Lone Star College.”

LSC offers over 200 program options, including four bachelor’s degrees, for students to complete a degree, transfer to a four-year institution or enter the workforce. Courses are available in face-to-face, online or hybrid formats. Learn more at LoneStar.edu/Registration.
