Lone Star College-Kingwood is hosting an Open House for the Academy for Lifelong Learning (ALL) Program.
The ALL Program is for adults 50 and older who want to learn new skills and make new friends. The Open House is an opportunity to learn more about the program and how to get involved.
More than four hundred classes are offered each semester on topics such as computer science, gardening, history, movies, music, theatre, politics, fitness, and more.
“Lone Star College’s ALL program has enriched our lives in so many ways. The courses cover a vast range of subjects to challenge the mind, inform and provide chances to socialize,” said ALL member, Sandra Reid.
“ALL members are excited to be able to join the campus fitness centers with their ALL memberships,” shared Continuing Education Director Pat Chandler. “Some play tennis or racquetball with their grandchildren who are also Lone Star College students! Also, pickleball classes are very popular and fill up fast!”
ALL student Jan Pahde said she is looking forward to taking more classes in the fall.
“I did not realize how exciting it would be to continue learning and have opportunities in so many different areas of life from educational seminars, crafts, line dancing and pickleball. This is also a great way to meet new lifelong friends and am proud to say that I am a student at Lone Star College.”
Annual membership (Sept. 1-Aug. 31) is $25 for access to classes at all seven LSC campuses. There are no educational requirements. Although most courses are free, some may require a small event fee for supplies or entrance.
The ALL Open House will be held Friday, August 15th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Conference Center (SCC) on the Kingwood campus.
