Flexible enrollment options available for busy Lone Star College System students

Next Start
Next Start classes at Lone Star College System provide flexible education pathways to accommodate students’ busy schedules.

It’s never too late to start an education journey at Lone Star College System.

The fall semester officially begins Aug. 25, but students seeking more flexibility in their schedules can enroll in Next Start classes, accelerated classes taking place over eight to 14 weeks compared to the traditional 16-week semester. Those courses will start Aug. 26.

“Next Start classes are ideal for students juggling commitments outside of the classroom, such as jobs or family obligations,” said Christina Hagerty, Ed.D., LSC interim chief academic officer. “Lone Star College is dedicated to offering flexible options to help you achieve your educational and professional goals.”

Having options is crucial for students like Tochukwu Chukwuemeka, a LSC-Montgomery student who grew up with a dream of working in space exploration. The Nigerian immigrant and military service member found his way to Lone Star College’s aerospace engineering program to turn that dream into a reality.

“Being in the military, my schedule is often unpredictable, but Lone Star College’s flexibility has made it easier to manage both my service and my education,” said Chukwuemeka.

Next Start classes are available at all eight LSCS campuses, including in-person, online and hybrid options. Learn more at LoneStar.edu/Class-Start-Options.
