Lone Star College–Montgomery has unveiled MavQuest, a new career readiness initiative designed to empower first-year students with the skills, experiences, and connections needed to thrive in today’s workforce. Integrated into the EDUC 1300 curriculum, MavQuest is a collaborative effort between the college’s Transfer, Recruitment, & Career (TRAC) Center and Maverick Engagement.
MavQuest is a signature component of the college’s First-Year Experience program, offering students a structured pathway to explore career options, engage with industry professionals, and build lasting academic and social connections.
Program Features Include:
• Career Fair Adventures – Direct engagement with employers and exposure to diverse career paths
• Mock Interviews – Realistic interview simulations with personalized feedback
• Maverick Engagement Events – Social experiences that foster peer connection and campus involvement
• MavQuest Q&A Panel Series – Interactive discussions with faculty and staff who bring real-world industry insight

Students are invited to attend one or more of the following sessions to connect classroom learning with professional growth: They will earn raffle tickets for each event attended, culminating in a prize drawing at the End-of-Semester Bash, a celebration of their successful completion of EDUC 1300. Beyond prizes, MavQuest helps students build stronger peer connections and integrate socially into campus life. It encourages the formation of study groups that support academic achievement and collaboration. Participants often experience increased classroom engagement and improved GPA. The program also fosters the development of a reliable academic and professional support system that students can rely on throughout their college journey and beyond.
MavQuest underscores Lone Star College-Montgomery’s commitment to student success, career readiness, and community building. By engaging students early in their academic journey, the program lays the foundation for lifelong learning and professional growth.
