Lone Star College–Tomball students earn teaching scholarships

LSC-Tomball AAT student

Lone Star College-Tomball continues to partner with other higher education institutions in the region to offer resources for students determined to reach their academic goals. The LSC–Tomball to Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Teacher Education Direct Pathway (EDP) is one such incredible partnership. Available to LSC-Tomball Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) students aspiring to be educators, applications for the program opened in the Summer of 2025.  Since then, six scholarships have been awarded.

For aspiring teacher and LSC-Tomball student, Georgia Small, the scholarship has already made a significant difference in her situation. “The scholarship helped tremendously. Thanks to it, I was able to replace my broken laptop. Whenever I move into PVAMU dorms or an apartment, the scholarship will help me even more with getting everything set up.”

With the support and reference of Laura Dupree, LSC-Tomball Coordinator and AAT Professor, four LSC-Tomball students have received the first portion of the EDP scholarship in Fall 2025. The two other students will receive the first portion of their scholarships in Spring 2026. All the students plan to earn their AAT at LSC-Tomball and transfer to PVAMU, where they will receive the second portion of the scholarship. Each student will receive $12,000 total, half for their time at LSC-Tomball and half for their time at PVAMU.
