Mission

Our mission is to prepare students interested in a teaching career to make a positive impact on students in Pre-K through 12 schools and programs.  We accomplish this mission by :

  • helping our students determine if a career in education is a good fit for their skills and passion
  • providing a strong foundation of educational knowledge and skills
  • promoting academic equity and diversity
  • preparing our students to transfer to an educator preparation program of their choice to earn a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate

Vision

Our vision is to improve the overall quality of education that students in Texas schools receive. Active exploration of the teaching field enables teaching candidates to solidly their desire to teach.  This in turn helps decrease the amount of teacher turnaround and increase the number of experienced teachers who are passionate about serving students.  By providing high-quality instruction in the basics of education including research-based and developmentally appropriate practices, we send future educators on to successfully complete bachelor’s degrees, earn teaching certificates, and enter their own classrooms to make differences in the lives of students.
