LSCS Administration and Finance Department wins prestigious award

The Administration and Finance Department of Lone Star College System was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The award was given to LSCS for its comprehensive annual financial report issued on Aug. 31, 2008 and it is the highest honor awarded to a government entity in the area of accounting and financial reporting.

“Receiving this award is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment of all LSCS Administration and Finance staff members,” said Diane Novak, associate vice chancellor, accounting. “Congratulations to everyone for all the hard work.”

This is the fifth consecutive year that LSCS has achieved this prestigious award given by the financial officers group.

The GFOA pointed out that the LSCS financial report, which was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, demonstrated a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the LSCS financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government financial professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
