Friday and Saturday classes at LCS-North Harris offers flexibility for busy schedules

Anyone hoping to fit college courses into a busy schedule should consider enrolling in Friday and Saturday classes at Lone Star College-North Harris this fall. The college will be offering an expanded selection of credit classes, which meet only on Fridays or Saturdays during the fall semester. Registration for these classes is going on now and will continue through August 28.

We understand that job and family responsibilities can be a barrier for those who want to pursue a college education, said Gary Clark, vice president for instruction at LSC-North Harris. A class that meets just one day a week, especially on a Friday evening or Saturday, can make the goal of a degree or certificate much more attainable for those students.

Available courses include accounting, biology, computer information technology, English, government, history, kinesiology, psychology and sociology. Friday and Saturday courses will be offered at the LSC-North Harris campus as well as its centers, LSC-Greenspoint in greater Greenspoint and LSC-Carver in Acres Homes.

Offering courses at non-peak times also helps the college manage its rapidly growing number of students.

Evening and weekend classes, along with our online and hybrid course offerings, allow us to maximize the number of students we can serve. Currently, registration for the fall semester is on pace to increase more than 40 percent over last year, added Clark.

With a record number of students expected this fall its important to register early and be sure to meet any payment deadlines. For a complete list of fall 2010 classes, including evening and weekend classes go to LoneStar.edu/class-search. The fall semester begins August 30.
