Learning Never Goes Out of Style - LSC-CyFair’s A.L.L. Open House Set Jan. 11

A.L.L. Open HouseInterested in making new friends, exploring the past, doing crafts, cooking and trying new activities? Join Lone Star College-CyFair’s Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) designed for adults 50 and better.

Students, for whom learning never goes out of style, can get a program overview at the A.L.L. Spring Open House. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 11 in the Conference Center on the campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.

Approximately 80 classes are offered each semester in arts and crafts; culinary arts; health, fitness and nutrition; home and auto; photography; science and nature; travel and culture; and more.

Among the returning favorites are Learning Mah Jongg, Mah Jongg Players, AARP Driver Safety Program and 290 Program Construction Update as well as many cooking classes, such as: Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie and File’ Gumbo, just to name a few. 

Some of the new classes on the spring schedule include Outsmarting the Scammers, State Birds of the USA, Virtual Dementia Tour and Historic Texas Railroads, Then and Now.

An annual membership fee of $20 allows members to attend most classes free (with some requiring only a nominal event, supply or entrance fee.)

Other benefits of membership include use of the college gym, discounts at plays, concerts, movies and restaurants.
