CYPRESS, Texas (March 30, 2020 ) Lone Star College-CyFair’s counselors, advisors, graduation and admissions specialists remain dedicated to providing resources for student academic and emotional success this spring.
“LSC-CyFair Student Services is committed to serving our students and ensuring that we can continue our service remotely as best as possible keeping our students and staff safe,” said Dean Ashlie Resendez.
Advisors are assisting students via phones, emails, texts and video conferencing. Transfer Services is also sharing information on virtual campus transfer events and virtual student transfer advising appointments hosted by university partners via social media and the college’s transfer website.
The Counseling Department staff are committed to responding within 24 hours. All support services – Disability Services, Career Services and Academic and Personal Support – are available via Cy-Fair.CounselingServices@LoneStar.edu or calling 281.290.3960.
“The health and well-being of students are important to our counseling team, particularly during such stressful, uncertain times,” said Counselor Angelica Sutton. “Unfortunately, other life circumstances (loss of jobs, death in family) do not stop when there is a major crisis which will definitely distract their attention away from school. We hope our students never feel they are in this alone. Together we will get through this!”
While the May graduation ceremony has been cancelled, LSC-CyFair’s more than 2,000 candidates need not worry, said Director of Admissions and Records Latina King. The graduation team is working to have accomplishments reflected in official transcripts. Diplomas and certificates are being processed and discussions are underway for options to celebrate 2020 graduates.
