February L.I.F.E. Lessons include Branding for Communities of Color, Dog Rescue and Tax Prep

LIFE WorkshopsJoin Lone Star College-CyFair’s February weekly WebEx workshops for business strategies, hair history, canine fostering and simplified tax talk.

These free Learning, Inspiration, Friendship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs are available Wednesdays through virtual presentations and are accessible for one week.

  • February 3: Building a Business That Benefits Communities of Color
    Join Shannen Garza Hakim, LGBTQ+ Afro-Latina Owner of Womxn on the Moon, as she outlines how to use charity-based sales models to empower communities of color. This session will cover the history of Pan-African cultures and their use of the collectivist culture to build wealth and invest back into communities of color through intentional branding and sales strategies.
     
  • February 10: Dr. Nina - Black Hair & History
    Dr. Nina Ellis-Hervey, hair and weight loss expert, is going to give an in-depth look at how Black hair plays a role in history and in the present day.
     
  • February 17: Fostering Our Love for Dogs
    Tracy Williams, Teen Librarian, and Angie Pierce of Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue, discuss canine rescue and fostering - from how a dog rescue organization works to how to volunteer and foster.
     
  • February 24: Tax Answers Simplified
    Join tax expert and Professor of Accounting, Jennifer Heller, for the most recent tax law changes that affect you or your business. Topics include: Stimulus payments, Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) and more.
