Hear New Teacher Experiences First-hand from LSC-CyFair AAT Program Alumni

Is teaching your passion? Don’t miss “Voices from LSC-CyFair” Feb. 23 to hear Lone Star College-CyFair alumni tell their story as part of the Teacher Education Speaker Series.

“Join us at this virtual event as three of our outstanding teacher certificate program alumni speak about their university experiences, student teaching, first-year teaching and much more,” said Shamim Arastu, LSC-CyFair’s professor of education.

Melissa ReinschSpeakers will include Melissa Reinsch, who teaches at a Title I elementary campus in Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District; Thisia Sayers, a high school teacher in Willis ISD; and Cassandra Partida, an elementary school teacher in Milton ISD.

Reinsch graduated in 2017 from LSC-CyFair, where she earned an Honors College Chancellor's Fellows associate degree and was part of the Honors College Student Organization, Future Professional Educators and National Model United Nations. She received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas College of Education.

With a love for connecting with students and thrilled to begin teaching last fall, Reinsch said she was “looking forward to creating a student-centered learning environment where the whole child can thrive.”

Thisia SayersSayers has a bachelor's in Spanish and a minor in secondary education and is currently pursuing a master's in curriculum design and instruction. As a first-year Spanish teacher, she said her objective is to apply a communicative instructional setting while broadening her student's vocabulary and grammatical knowledge. She also aims to educate them on the diversity, various cultures, histories and nations that compose the Hispanic world.

Cassandra PartidaPartida started her college career at Lone Star College-CyFair and finished with a bachelor’s in elementary education and a minor in adaptive education in 2020 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. During her two years at LSC-CyFair she said she was fortunate enough to travel to Nicaragua and volunteer at Reach Unlimited.
