Cy-Fest, Lone Star College-CyFair’s annual community celebration, is right around the corner so save Oct. 7 for a day of family-friendly fun.
This campus-wide Saturday event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. features a pumpkin patch, arts and crafts, petting zoo, train rides, STEAM-related exhibitions and activities, photo booths, and food trucks, just to name a few returning favorites.
“We are excited to have added new children’s activities, such as paintball, parachutes and a foam party as well as a dance workshop,” said Celia Harper, Special Events Manager. “Among our new musical entertainers are School of Rock Cypress featuring community student musicians and Lucid Illusions including band member Jarod Lane, a 2018 graduate of LSC-CyFair.”
In fact, Lane has several connections to LSC-CyFair as he is a former Dual Credit student, Discovery College assistant, Jazz Band member and is the son of Math Professor Kim Lane.
Lucid Illusions, a blues/punk rock band named the 2022 and 2023 Best Local Band by the Houston Chronicle, has played with national acts such as Papa Roach, Seether, Bush, Warrant and Everclear, just to name a few.
“We are looking forward to bringing some rock n' roll to Cy-Fest … and to hopefully gain some new fans,” said Lane.
Cy-Fest attendees can also get information on LSC-CyFair’s Center for the Arts, Student Life, Academy for Lifelong Learning, academic degrees, workforce certificates, library programs and so much more.
