Upward Bound is a free federally funded grant program designed to prepare first-generation, low-income high school students for college. Upward Bound aims to increase college enrollment and degree completion among program participants.
Upward Bound participants receive academic advising, standardized test preparation, supplemental instruction, scholarship and financial aid assistance, financial literacy training, and college campus tours. Through participation in after-school tutorials and a six-week summer program on the Lone Star College-Kingwood campus, students build academic skills and improve their academic performance. Students also participate in cultural enrichment activities and community service events. Additionally, Upward Bound offers developmental workshops in college success skills such as time management, study skills, and career exploration.
The Lone Star College-Kingwood Upward Bound has served students from the Splendora ISD since January 2022. We aim to serve the students and provide services through Lone Star College-Kingwood Upward Bound.

Application Packets Must Include:
- Completed Application
- A copy of your U.S. birth certificate and government issued photo ID
OR
U.S. Passport, Certificate of Naturalization, Permanent Resident Card, or evidence from the Immigration and Naturalization Service of your intent to become a permanent resident - A signed copy of your parent/guardian’s signed most recent income tax return or a signed "Income Verification Form"
